Sri Mulyani Reminds Annual SPT Report to be Closed March 31, 2024, There is a Fine if it is Late

The deadline for reporting the 2024 personal taxpayer income tax annual return falls on Monday (31/3/2024).

Minister of Finance (Menkeu), Sri Mulyani Indrawati appealed to the entire community to immediately report the 2024 annual tax return.

For information, the annual tax return is divided into an individual’s annual tax return and an agency’S annual tax return.

Based on the rules of the law on General Provisions and Tax Procedures (KUP) Article 7 Paragraph 1, taxpayers who do not report annual tax returns will be fined, for those who do not report annual tax returns, individual taxpayers will be fined Rp 100,000 and Rp 1,000,000 for corporate taxpayers. Although taxpayers will be penalized if they are late in paying tax returns, there are also groups of taxpayers who are not subject to administrative fines.

As referred to in Article 7 Paragraph 1 of the KUP law, the following exceptions are fines for taxpayers who are late in reporting annual tax returns.

  • Deceased individual taxpayer
  • Individual taxpayers who have not conducted business activities or independent work
  • Individual taxpayer who has the status of a foreign citizen who no longer lives in Indonesia
  • A permanent establishment no longer operating in Indonesia
  • Corporate taxpayers who do not carry out business activities again but have not been dissolved in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Treasurer who does not make payments anymore
  • Taxpayers affected by the disaster, whose provisions are regulated by regulation of the Minister of Finance
  • Other taxpayers regulated by or based on the regulation of the Minister of Finance.

Individual taxpayers are given time to report their annual notification letter (SPT) until Sunday (31/3/2024). Director of Counseling, Services and Public Relations of the Directorate General of taxes (DGT) Dwi Astuti said the number of taxpayers who have reported tax returns as of Thursday (15/3/2024) reached 7.71 million. He explained that 7.71 million taxpayers who have reported tax returns consist of 7.48 million individual taxpayers and 232,520 corporate taxpayers. “Grew by 1.65 percent year on year,” said Dwi to Kompas.com, Friday (15/3/2024). Related to tax return reporting, the obligation to report is intended for individual and corporate taxpayers who have a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) with active status.
